Keep the faith

It is a subtle transformation

When a friend turns out to be more

A lover, a brother, a sister

That you cherish forevermore

But there had been others

Who bruised and harmed

The vulnerable soul

Untouched, unarmed

And you teach yourself distrust

And let the numbness fill the ache

Yet, if instinct tells you, you are loved

It’s best to let go and keep the faith
